Sometimes life just gets hard. You might be going through a relationship breakdown, grieving someone you love, struggling with anxiety or feeling as though you’ve simply reached a low point and don’t quite know how to get yourself back.
Perhaps you’ve spent years putting everyone else first and somewhere along the way, you’ve lost sight of you. You may be trying to understand the impact of a difficult childhood, a controlling or narcissistic relationship, domestic abuse or experiences from your past that you thought you had moved on from — but which still seem to find their way into your life today. Sometimes there isn’t one big reason, you might simply need somewhere you can talk honestly.
Somewhere you don’t have to pretend you’re okay, worry about burdening anyone, or have all the answers. For many men, talking about how life really feels can be particularly difficult. You may have become used to getting on with things, keeping it together and dealing with problems yourself. Therapy can give you somewhere to finally put some of that down.
Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to work it all out on your own. I offer a warm, down-to-earth and completely non-judgemental space where you can talk, make sense of what’s happened and begin to understand what you need now.
Sometimes, finding yourself starts with having somewhere safe enough to be yourself.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
BACKGROUND
I trained as an integrative psychotherapist, drawing on Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural approaches. I began my clinical work within a well-established counselling charity in the heart of Taunton, where I developed and deepened my therapeutic practice.
During my time there, I was supported and shaped by a number of highly experienced practitioners, which allowed me to grow not only as a therapist, but as a person. Following my BACP accreditation, I stepped into the role of Clinical Recruitment Officer, where I had the privilege of mentoring and supporting trainee therapists as they developed their own practice. With years of experience behind me, I have evolved a way of working that feels authentic, relational and attuned.
After many years experience, I now integrate a range of therapeutic approaches, with a natural leaning towards psychodynamic therapy, helping to uncover the patterns and experiences that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. As a therapist who works with deeply rooted trauma, I went on to train as an EMDR practitioner at the Alexandra Richmond Institute in London, this training is approved my EMDRIA and enables me to support clients in processing trauma and moving forward in a more adaptive and empowered way.
